LONG TERM DEVELOPMENT COACHING

OPEN CANOE LONG TERM DEVELOPMENT

Sometimes a 2 day or 5 day course isn't enough - and the day-after-day pace can be just a mind-melter for some.  Our long term development courses are designed to give you 12 sessions over at least 8 months, in order to give you plenty of personal practice and paddling time in between; all centred around both your short term needs and long term aspirations.  These small group courses (maximum 3 people) are completely tailor made and individualised to you from the beginning, and are designed to develop your individual skills.  The course will give you the tools to not just get better and allow to reach your goals, but also get you responsible for your own long-term learning with reflection and goal setting, fostering independence over time.  Our highly-skilled coaches are experienced in long term paddler development, and a friendly approach means we will always aim to get you looking forward to your next session and the development in between.

You can either have either intermediate or advanced long term aspirations for your open canoe development, or somewhere in between.  So whether your aim is to develop your skills to tackle that dream trip down the Yukon, looking to achieve your Advanced Canoe Leader or Canoe Leader award, a flat water paddler looking to develop fundamental white water skills, nervous of strong winds, or want to develop your traditional skills - we have a programme for you.

Previous experience: You will have, as a minimum, flat water open canoeing experience and can paddle the boat effectively solo in a straight line in light winds.

An initial profiling task and questionnaire will allow us to construct an adaptable annual plan for your development course.
