SEA KAYAK COACHING
ROUGH WATER DEVELOPER - Oban & Sound of Luing
5 days
The Oban area and Sound of Luing is a fantastic area for intermediate and advanced sea kayaking - home to the tide races and moving water playspots of the Falls of Lora, Grey Dogs, Bellnahua, Loch Creran, Cuan Sound and of course the infamous Corryvreckan. In the right conditions, more exposed coastlines offer swell and stronger winds to get to grips with.
This course is designed for the intermediate sea kayaker, who has done a good amount of paddling in stronger winds (to F4) and some swell and looking to develop their skillset in rough and dynamic water: experiencing tide races and moving water along with bigger swells and stronger winds. Over the 5 days we'll develop cast iron techncal and tactical models to paddle and perform in these environments, as well as foster confidence through challenges and play as well as a deeper understainding and feel of the environment. A sea kayak roll is advantageous for this course.
The course will be delivered by highly experienced sea kayak coaches, who have an intimate knowledge of the area: Matt Haydock & Doug Cooper.
